'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory sealed an unbelievable comeback given Swansea had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. In the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a next round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the City players who complimented the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they understand how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can feel you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a spell at League Two Salford City, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away games against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was closed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
